The Győr-Veszprém railway is a single-track non-electrified railway of MÁV with the number 11. According to many, it has the most beautiful and most technical advanced track in Hungary. Its section between Veszprém and Bakonyszentlászló is under monumental protection. The Cuha Valley section recently became one of Hungary’s tourist destinations. It is a special railway of Hungary: the section between Porva-Csesznek and Vinye is technically unique in the country, where the railway runs through the Cuha Valley while crossing three tunnels and two valley bridges. The railway construction monument of 1896 is located above one of the viaducts. This is the line where the only tunnel with a rock shelter is to be found. The railway line offers a unique experience for the visitors, especially for guests with children.
There are several important events on the line, of which the day of the Cuha Valley’s railway is outstanding; it is held on the third Saturday of April. The event offers guided hiking tours, special trains, fair and tree planting for the visitors.
