DID YOU KNOW?
Iron paths: The firs via ferrata – back then of wood – was built on the side of Mount Auguille in 1492. Since then, it has spread throughout Europe as a recreational sport, as a simpler and safer way rock climbing and an introduction to the wonderland of the mountains. In Hungary, iron paths are built by the Alpin Sport Club of Tatabánya. There are currently ten paths at three locations from level B/C to E/F.
WHO CAN CLIMB?
Iron paths: Anybody: (Almost. :) ) It is important not to have a fear of heights and it also requires a basic fitness so that you can enjoy the climbing. The Hungarian iron paths have different difficulty level. The easiest are for children (over -6 years) and for those with a less active life-style, and the more difficult paths challenge the active ones.
HOW?
Iron paths: Along the route, a wire rope is secured at several points to the cliff. This is the basis of the fastening. The climber is attached to this rope by a special equipment that protects him or her from falling. On the paths with different difficulty levels, you can utilise the natural features of the cliff and, if you need, use the wire rope and the iron rungs secured in the cliff supporting your steps and grips.
Tour dates
We conduct via ferrata tours in Csesznek and the Cuha Valley every Saturday and Sunday. The tours are starting at 10 am and 14 pm.
