Description

Getting off the bus, we are heading eastwards on the Z path. Turning left to the first side street, we can reach the Roman Catholic church with its ornament, the red marble tomb of Orsolya Szapolyai. Soon, we reach the path marked S where we turn right at right angles before the big curve. The cart-road leads us out of the village. Crossing a small brook we are constantly rising. We continue our journey on a hollow road and then on meadows and arable lands we reach a fork where we turn right. Turning left at the next fork, we reach the asphalt road leading to Szépalmapuszta. Here, the S path turns right and we follow the K sign. We continue our journey on the asphalt road across. Going round the hill of the church – it offers a beautiful view of Borzavár and its church –, we go down on a small path to the village’s main street. Beside us is the Roman Catholic church. Holding the course, we walk through the settlement; we can see several old peasant houses with verandah. We leave the village on a steep slope. At the bend, the K path continues straight ahead, then parallel to the road to the left. We pass by the memories of former crafts of Bakony, the abandoned lime burner. From the bushy field, our path is strongly rising and we reach the forest. We descend on a steep slope into a valley. On the valley’s other side, the path begins to rise slightly. In the beautiful beech tree of the Pintér Hill, we reach the Sípálya trail which was named after the former ski-jump standing here. Downward to the right on the wide linea with grassy bottom, we arrive at the Rejuvenating Spring (Fiatalító-forrás) that has delicious water. Next to it, benches and fire pits are waiting for the tourists. The spring has a fluctuating water flow and is often dried up in dry seasons. The K sign continues on the path. We descend, crossing a transport road. At the next fork, we turn right (to the left the educational trail of the Forest Park of Pintér Hill starts) and going down the stairs, we reach the Pintér Hill quarry court. Lime burner, charcoal burner and mining display and an open-air lapidarium was established in the quarry court. Fire pits, rain shelters, benches and tables are waiting for the hikers and playground for the children. Leaving the park, descending on the Borzavári and the Deák Ferenc street we arrive at the town centre, the Rákóczi square.
