Description
Getting off the train, we start our journey towards the houses, following the Cuha Canyon signs. Our wide road turns ride into the valley and on a small path we can see the Kőpince cave. We cross the iron bridge. On the other side, the path running along the stream leads to the Kőpince well. We continue our journey in the valley following the P sign. There are caves in the wall of the deep valley; a sign draws attention to the cave named Betyár-pamlag. In this section, we have to cross the Cuha several times; stepping-stones are supporting us. In the most romantic part of the valley, there is a resting place under the rocks. Here we can see the valley bridge of the railway, next to it the Millennium Railway Construction Monument (Vasútépítési Emlékmű) and here is the end the Educational Trail that begins in Vinye. We continue our journey on a wide unpaved road under rocks. The railway line on our left reaches here the rockslide safety vault unique in Hungary. Soon we walk across under the railway and the valley’s features soften. Now we are walking on the right side of the Cuha for a while. On the wide valley floor there are resting places, each suitable for sitting down and picnics. The S P+ sign comes from the left; the first leads us to the Csesznek Castle, the latter to Gézaháza. After about 1 km we arrive at the PorvaCsesznek railway station; on the weekends there is a railway history exhibition in the building which is worth to visit. From here we change to a cart-road and follow the path along the stream. The valley steepens. We cross the Cuha and the railway and arrive in a rocky and steep pat of the valley. Crossing again the Cuha we reach the fork of the P □. From here, we continue our journey in the valley, on an overgrown cart-road. Walking below the Szesztra Hill, we reach Kardosrét settlement. On the unpaved road running across, we turn right (to the left we can reach Kardosrét, the bus stop, chapel and a restaurant from spring to autumn). Following the P sign, we are turning to the direction of Zirc and straight ahead reach the Walla-Ányos graveyard. Coming round the sewage works, on an asphalt road straight ahead and slightly raising at the end of the Alkotmány street, we arrive at the town centre, the Rákóczi square.
