Description

Getting off the bus, we take the Dózsa Street, following the signs towards Szentkút. Before the Gaja Bridge we reach the K mark which continues after the bridge. On an open ground, a wide valley floor we arrive at the Saint Well, a nationwide famous sight of Jásd. The sign goes around the enclosed grove. We continue on the open ground. To the left, you can see the green forest of the Tés plateau. We pass the building of the Vadalmás mill and after approx. 1 km we cross the stream. By a large body of water it’s not that easy. Across the stream, we turn left on wide road. Soon, the KOS sign leading to the Vadalmás spring branches to the other side of the stream. Our way is going uphill on the ridge. On its other side we walk downhill to the fork of the KΩ sign, on which the majestic rocks of the Roman Bath (Római-fürdő) can be reached. Here a Forestry Monument and across the stream a resting place and a fire pit await us. Following the valley, the sign continues on a narrow path on the hillside. At the outskirts of Bakonynána, we arrive at the Prém Mill. Passing by the mill building, our sign leads us to the main road between Bakonynána and Tés. After 50 m to the right, we reach the road towards Olaszfalu. Leaving the village, we go uphill on this road. We walk near the ruins of lime kilns. After approx. 1 km we turn off the road to the right. We continue our way in the woods but remaining in the Gaja Valley. In a fork, our sign is leading in a side valley for a while. We descend on a winding road next to the stream and cross by a ford. We are walking on the stream’s right bank. Our path is rising slightly. At Veimpuszta, our path turns twice at right angles. We cross the stream. Higher we see dammed ponds and puddles. Crossing one of the Gaja springs, we head for a stronger uphill. From the pine forest we reach an open ground. Looking back we can enjoy the beautiful view of the Tés Plateau. Walking again in the woods we reach the outskirts of Nagyesztergár. On the main road between Zirc and Dudar we turn left. After a slight uphill, the Zirc Basin reveals itself before us and descending a little, we can see the silhouette of the Abbey. We arrive at the town on the Köztársaság Street, the railway station is to the right. Straight ahead, passing by the compound pier we arrive at the central square of Zirc, the Rákóczi square.
