STONE DITCH (KŐ-ÁROK)

STONE DITCH (KŐ-ÁROK)

GPS coordinates: N:47°20’ E:17°53’

Between Csesznek and Gézháza, in north-south direction, east of the Main Road 82 and parallel with it runs the Stone Ditch. We can follow it on the path marked green. One of the wonderful, steep ravines enclosed by 30-50 m high cliffs of the Bakony Mountain is about 2.5 kilometres long. It’s definetly worth climbing to the Kővölgyi rocky cave in the valley side and to the stone chamber almost opposite to it. In both rock caverns, traces of cavemen were found during the excavation in 1950. It is open all year round.
